Wendy's internship with Ambition

Ambition recently welcomed Wendy Lee to our HQ on an eight-week internship. Wendy joined us from Hong Kong Baptist University, where she is studying Human Resources, and worked closely with our HR team as she enjoyed her first visit to Sydney. Here’s how she found the experience, in her own words.

Seven weeks have passed since I started my HR internship at Ambition. I remember when I first stepped into the office, I felt very welcomed and happy as my new colleagues were so nice and it was an energetic working environment.

During my time, I came across various job duties such as; holding exit interviews, building up organisational charts and researching global employee legislation. These tasks allowed me to gain professional knowledge and develop skills that will be useful for my future career.

My supervisor Keely has been really supportive and taught me a lot about Human Resources. The rest of the team are also very helpful and always willing to give me a hand whenever I’ve had questions. I love the collaborative culture of Ambition which makes everyone united, valued and unique. Laughter is everywhere in the office. This makes it a fun and supportive place to work and my time here as an intern here has allowed me to have a clearer vision of my future career.

Additionally, I had constant exposure to the sights and sounds of Sydney that are different from my home in Hong Kong. Blue skies and nice harbour views are everywhere, making people feel relaxed. The food, especially hotcakes and pies, are awesome! However, I found that the cafes are closed really early here, which makes a huge difference (most of the shops are open until 11 pm in Hong Kong). Overall, the city is less busy than I’m used to and I’ll certainly miss my daily coffee break!

I’ve really enjoyed being a part of Ambition and I would like to express my gratitude for making my time here in Sydney a memorable one. My journey has been enriching and I’ve had a fabulous experience that I’ll remember as I begin my career.

Good luck to Wendy from all of us at Ambition, we wish you the best of luck in your future career.
