About Ambition

We are passionate about Building Better Futures for our clients, candidates and employees.

Our story

Ambition was founded in Australia in 1999 by Nick Waterworth and Paul Lyons with a belief that whilst we didn't want to reinvent the wheel, we did feel that there was a tremendous opportunity to carve a niche of our own in the recruitment market and build a special organisation.

Since then Ambition has grown, servicing specialist markets in key international cities; Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, yet despite our size, we remain of the few international recruitment businesses with genuine local expertise.

Today, Ambition is renowned for our in-depth knowledge and expertise, well-established networks and deep relationships. We have the scale to undertake significant projects for our clients yet deliver a personal customer experience with the soul and personality of a smaller company.

Corporate Social Responsibility

At Ambition we acknowledge our responsibilities to our employees, the community and the environment. Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) policy focuses on three core commitments:

  • We believe that for our employees the company should be a positive, inclusive and safe place to work.

  • We want to be engaged with our community, using our time and resources to improve other peoples’ lives in line with our company purpose of Building Better Futures.

  • We recognise that we can significantly reduce the impact our business activities have on the environment.

Each of our offices around the world supports their communities through raising money as well as donating time, resources and expertise. We also host career-focused programs aimed at assisting young people in each of our offices around the world.

Global

In addition to Ambition’s corporate social responsibility policy, as a group we are affiliated with Unicef and participate in raising funds for their Champion for Children Programme.  Unicef are the United Nations Children’s Fund, they work in 190 countries across the globe, and advocate the survival, protection and development of every child. Their focus is on the lives of children who are the most disadvantaged and excluded.

We are proud to have this partnership with Unicef as it strongly backs Ambitions tagline of “Building Better Futures”. Ambition employees are encouraged to donate year round, however predominantly during the quarterly global culture initiatives, also known as ‘Celebrating Our Culture With Pride’ events.

Australia

The Beacon Foundation has helped inspire and motivate more than 87,000 young people in more than 160 schools to either increase their educational engagement and attainment or choose a positive pathway that enables successful transition to employment, further education or training.

Beacon is a non-profit organisation working across Australia and believes every young Australian can develop an independent will to achieve personal success for themselves and their community.

Our people are actively involved in providing career advice and support to children through Beacon’s Speed Careering and Business Blackboards training programs.

Diversity Council Australia (DCA)

Diversity Council Australia is the only independent, not-for-profit workplace diversity advisor to business in Australia. We offer a unique knowledge bank of research, practice and expertise across diversity dimensions developed over more than 25 years of operation. In partnership with our members, our mission is to:

1. Lead debate on diversity in the public arena;
2. Develop and promote the latest diversity research, thinking and practice; and
3. Deliver innovative diversity practice resources and services to enable our members to drive business improvement.

Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing Association (RCSA)

The Recruitment, Consulting and Staffing Association Australia & New Zealand (RCSA) is the peak body for the recruitment and staffing industry in Australia and New Zealand.

RCSA sets the benchmark for professionalism through standard setting, education, research and business advisory support to our member firms and accredited professionals. All of our members are bound by the RCSA Code for Professional Conduct which is underpinned by a comprehensive disciplinary and dispute resolution procedure.
