We caught up with the Manager of our Brisbane office, Simon Harris, who has recently moved his team into a brand new office space in the city. It's certainly an exciting time for the team in Queensland!
We're almost half way through 2017, what’s the market looking like in Brisbane?
It’s been the busiest, strongest start to a year in a long time. Starting the year like this gives me a lot of confidence that the market is strong and will continue to grow throughout the year.
For any recruiter in the tech space, Brisbane is the place to be at the moment. The government is making a huge effort to make sure that Brisbane becomes the tech hub capital. There are lots of exciting Start-Ups starting to shine so we have a real focus in this space.
The Brisbane office is currently growing. Can you tell me more about that?
We've added a number of people to the business in Q1. We can be pretty accommodating to any consultant who is passionate about working in a particular space… If you want to specialise in network security, we can accommodate that. If you want to focus on Business Analysts, we can accommodate that. If you have a passion for Functional Programming and want to work in that space, we can accommodate that! We’re pretty unique in that way and I think that allowing people to play to their strengths will bring out the best in any consultant.
We’ve also recently moved into our brand new office which is a fantastic space. We can comfortably double in size but I want to make sure that we grow naturally and keep the excellent culture that we have.
What kind of team would a new recruit to Ambition Brisbane be joining?
Experienced, confident and professional individuals who love working together! We work really hard, we have a lot of fun and each consultant is given full autonomy to run their desk how they see fit. We’re all very proud of what we have here and we trust each other which is very important. I’m very lucky to have this team around me but we’re all really excited to welcome new consultants to be part of this.
Our culture is much more than Friday beers and ping pong. I believe that it’s the people that make a great culture and that’s exactly what we have here, great, dedicated people fully invested in the business.
I think it’s also important to note that anybody joining the team will be given the investment and foundations to build a very successful career. We have a great training schedule for all levels of experience and a team that will provide support and guidance. Anybody joining the team will be given a choice of commission structures. We realise that it can’t be a ‘one size fits all’ solution so we’ve created a range of industry leading structures that will excite anybody joining the business.
What’s the best thing about working for Ambition?
For me, it’s all about the people. We’re a great team here in Brisbane but we feel a key part of the global business. Every person in the business is encouraged to get to know their colleagues in other offices and we often share information and help each other out. It’s great to be part of a global business with so many talented individuals who all who all work well together.
