My background:

Kia ora, ko Casey tōku ingoa. Hello, my name is Casey. I did the classic 'fall' into recruitment in 2018. After a couple of months travelling in Colombia, I returned to Auckland and the directors at Alexander James, who I had previously made coffees for in the hospo scene, hired my very-green 21-year-old self to join their agency and learn the ropes. I spent the next 5 years with them recruiting in the permanent finance space and learnt a great deal from an awesome bunch of people. Over the last few years there, I was recruiting from the qualified accountant level and upwards as a consultant. The covid market certainly kept things interesting, and it was a great lesson in resilience and determination!

I left New Zealand mid-2023 to travel for over a year. I spent 8 months backpacking through Asia, 3 months in Europe, went to the Cook Islands with my family, and spent time exploring Melbourne to see if I liked what I saw. Melbourne passed the test and I made it my base in Sep 2024. I returned to agency recruitment with TwoScots, helping clients find Senior Finance talent, while I found my feet in Australia.

As of Feb 2026, Ambition is my new home of recruitment in Melbourne! I'm delighted to have joined the team, and I'm raring to go. I'm happy to be continuing on my path of recruitment specialisation (the senior finance space) and can't wait to develop new and existing relationships in the market. What I've loved about the recruitment industry is being able to have a hand in people landing their dream roles, helping them step up into leadership positions, taking on new skills, and do what they love as a career. It's very rewarding and means that I meet a lot of very interesting, passionate people.

A bit about me outside of work: I'm a proud kiwi. I'm a very keen traveller - backpacking style, off the beaten track. To give you an idea, I drove my own tuk tuk across half of Sri Lanka for a month - up into hilly tea plantation country, through hectic busy cities and market squares, you name it, and it was the best experience, albeit stressful at first! I'm a passionate scuba diver, clocking up all of my 1,000 + hours diving in Asia. I've loved camping and road-tripping around Victoria over the last year. Week to week, you'll find me floating at the beach, in the gym, painting, reading, getting outside for walks and spending time with my partner.
