Supply & Inventory Planner (MRP & Lifecycle)

Job description

This planning role sits within a large, complex operation where sharp inventory decisions directly protect the bottom line. You'll take ownership of MRP parameters and inventory lifecycle across spare parts and consumables, with a clear mandate to interrogate 12 months of stock losses, pinpoint root causes (planning gaps, poor parameters, demand volatility), and drive practical changes that cut write-offs, lift service levels and free up working capital.

Success looks like translating complex data patterns into clear stories that shift how Supply Chain, Finance and Operations plan, procure and execute.

You'll challenge existing assumptions, align diverse stakeholders around new strategies (ABC/XYZ policies, safety stock recalibration, replenishment triggers), and own the implementation to deliver measurable uplift over 12-18 months. Dynamics 365 and Farsight proficiency is table stakes-this role demands strong commercial instinct, influence and the ability to turn analysis into decisions that stick.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end MRP cycles including demand and supply planning.
  • Maintain and optimise planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, reorder points) in Dynamics 365.
  • Monitor exceptions (shortages, excess, obsolete stock) and take corrective action.
  • Oversee the full inventory lifecycle from introduction through to phase-out and scrapping.
  • Implement segmentation strategies (ABC/XYZ) and controls for slow-moving stock.
  • Reduce ageing inventory and prevent write-offs through proactive analysis.
  • Balance service level targets with cost-to-serve for field service parts.
  • Coordinate replenishment for central distribution and reverse logistics.
  • Use Dynamics 365 for planning, master data and reporting.
  • Build dashboards and reports to track KPIs such as forecast accuracy, stock turns and obsolescence.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve planning accuracy and reduce working capital.
  • Contribute to process enhancements and SOP development.

About you:

  • Experience in MRP, supply planning or inventory management.
  • Strong background in spare parts and consumables planning within multi-location or field service environments.
  • Essential: Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Supply Chain / Finance & Operations).
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to influence decisions through data-driven insights.
