FX Settlements Analyst
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented FX Settlements Analyst to join our clients team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and timely settlement of Foreign Exchange (FX) transactions for Australian and New Zealand clients. This is a process-driven role that requires a strong focus on risk and control, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with clients and internal FX Sales teams on trade-related matters and settlement queries
- Facilitate client onboarding by ensuring settlement instructions are in place prior to trading
- Perform settlements using both system-generated processes and manual methods including RTGS, Austraclear, MT202, MT103 message formats
- Conduct sanctions screening on transactions to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory policies
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks on client and nostro accounts
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including Sales, Operations, Compliance, and Technology
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client settlement instructions and documentation
- Monitor and meet critical cut-off times to avoid settlement fails and minimize operational risk
- Identify process improvements and support initiatives that enhance risk control and operational efficiency
Key Requirements:
- Prior experience in FX Settlements, Financial Operations, or a similar role within a financial institution
- Familiarity with payment and settlement systems including RTGS, Austraclear, and SWIFT messaging (MT103, MT202)
- Understanding of sanctions screening processes and regulatory compliance
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on risk and control
- Proficiency in MS Excel and financial systems; experience with reconciliation tools is a plus
