Senior Financial Accountant

Our client is one of Australia's fastest growing insurtech businesses, backed by leading global insurers and venture capital firms. They're seeking an energetic, hands on Senior Accountant to join their exciting startup environment. You'll work closely with the Head of Finance and take ownership of day-to-day accounting, compliance, and operational finance flows unique to the insurtech space. This is a broad, high-visibility role in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Reporting

• Deliver accurate month-end close (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) within 5 business days.
• Maintain GL, post journals, accruals, and prepayments.
• Prepare management accounts and variance analysis for board reporting.

Operational Finance

• Reconcile premium collection flows daily; clear exceptions promptly.
• Maintain Premium Trust Accounts and ensure audit-ready records.
• Process carrier settlements and bordereaux on time.
• Track claims funding and recoveries with Claims Ops.

Systems & Automation

• Own finance stack (Xero, Dext/Hubdoc, payroll, BI tools).
• Automate reconciliations and reporting where possible.
• Collaborate with Product/Engineering on data flows.

FP&A Support

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and unit economics tracking.

About you

• Strong technical accounting skills with a hands-on approach.
• Background in business services or outsourced accounting highly regarded.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and compliance.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment
