Senior Financial Accountant
Job description
Location: Lidcombe, NSW
Rate: $60 per hour + Super
Contract: 6 months
About the Role
Join a dynamic healthcare organisation in Lidcombe as a Senior Financial Accountant on a 6-month contract. You will play a key role in financial management and reporting, supporting the organisation's mission to deliver quality care across aged care, NDIS, and disability services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to make an impact in the health and community sector.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards and sector regulations.
Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and effective cash flow management.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities to inform strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory financial requirements, including NDIS and aged care funding claims and acquittals.
Liaise with internal and external auditors, and assist in the preparation of audit schedules and implementation of audit recommendations.
Provide technical accounting advice and support to management and operational teams, translating complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes, systems, and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Mentor and support junior finance staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure all financial activities are in accordance with organisational policies and the Disability Service Standards.
Essential Criteria
CA/CPA qualified or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience as a Senior Financial Accountant or Group Accountant, ideally within the healthcare, aged care, NDIS, or disability sectors.
Strong working knowledge of major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, TechnologyOne, or similar) in a complex organisational environment.
Proven ability to manage end-to-end financial accounting processes, including statutory reporting, compliance, and audit support.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Highly Desirable
Experience in aged care, NDIS, or disability services finance.
Prior exposure to government or not-for-profit sector accounting and reporting requirements.
Understanding of sector-specific funding models and compliance obligations.
