Senior Data Engineer

Job description

Join an Australian headquartered NFP business as they look to expand their data services function to build out cloud data producs=ts on Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop Azure cloud data products (Data warehousing, data integrations, dashboards etc.) to enhance data services.
  • Gather, document, and clarify requirements; design solutions; develop code using Microsoft BI stacks; test and support UAT; monitor product functionality.
  • Improve the data product development and support process through automation, including access requests, data refreshes, releases, source control, and knowledge management.
  • Ensure functional and non-functional quality through data profiling, automated and manual tests, and performance testing.

Key Skills

  • Strong SQL Skills: Experience with correlated and uncorrelated subqueries, various joins (left, inner, anti), aggregations, filters, unions, analytic functions, and partitioning functions
  • PowerBI Proficiency: Strong command of PowerBI, particularly in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).

  • Devops: Experience automating aspects of product development and support such as automated releases and calling API's
  • Data Modeling: Competence in data modeling, encompassing:

    • Familiarity with Kimball or other methodologies.
    • Knowledge of PowerBI/Tabular cube design patterns and performance tuning techniques.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage time, scope, and quality through effective oral and written communication.
