Logistics Manger
Job description
As a Logistics Manager, you will be working for a global industry leader based in North Ryde. This is a unique opportunity to shape logistics operations for a company renowned for its innovation, international reach, and commitment to excellence. This is a 3-month contract, with a genuine path to permanent employment. You'll lead national transportation, reverse logistics, and 3PL operations, managing a significant $30+ million annual spend across finished goods, spare parts, and workshop distribution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead logistics operations Australia-wide for finished goods, spare parts, and workshop logistics.
3PL management: Oversee and optimise domestic freight, cross-docks, wharf cartage, and warehouse services. Ensure strict adherence to SLAs and key performance indicators.
Freight tender support: Play a key role in supporting freight tender processes-collaborating in the development, assessment, and execution of freight procurement strategies to secure competitive pricing, maintain quality of service, and enhance supplier relationships. This includes contributing to the preparation of tender documentation, evaluating proposals, and assisting with contract negotiations to drive optimal commercial outcomes.
Cost and process improvement: Drive initiatives to increase efficiency, minimize costs, support local and global projects, and collaborate across all business functions.
Health, Safety & Environment: Champion safety culture, proactively identify and resolve risks, and lead HSE improvement initiatives.
About You
Experience: 5+ years in logistics management, warehousing, and national distribution, including experience leading teams.
Expertise: Strong track record overseeing third-party logistics partners and running large-scale operations.
Skills: Advanced Excel abilities, ERP literacy (preferably JD Edwards/Oracle), and highly developed analytical thinking.
Leadership: Proven communicator and influencer, effective at building collaborative relationships.
Qualifications: Relevant tertiary education in Business or Logistics Management (or equivalent industry experience).
