IT Operations Lead
Full-time | Permanent | Sydney-based | Competitive salary + bonus | 5 days in office

Our client is experiencing an exciting period of growth and is now seeking an IT Operations Lead to join their team. This newly created position seeks an IT Operations Lead to take ownership of infrastructure operations, manage third-party relationships, and drive operational excellence. This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional who's comfortable taking ownership of a new environment but also able to get involved in day-to-day technical operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring SLAs are met and projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership, compliance teams, and business stakeholders to align IT operations with organisational goals.
  • Assist in managing and delivering infrastructure projects from planning through to implementation.
  • Provide IT support where required, including troubleshooting issues across infrastructure, desktop, and networking environments.
  • Review, track, and reconcile monthly invoices for multiple IT and printer service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, equipment, and surplus stock across multiple office locations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, security, and compliance across IT operations.

Experience required

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a financial services or professional services environment and has an Infrastructure background.
  • Experience supporting an Infrastructure environment, including servers, networks, and cloud environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft stack (Office 365, SharePoint, Windows Server).
  • Exposure to network engineering, IT risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to provide technical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis across end-user and infrastructure issues.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and SLA performance.
  • Familiarity with asset management processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when tracking assets, invoices, and project progress
  • Able to work 5 days in the office
