Group Tax Manager
Job description
This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing finance team and play a pivotal role in shaping the tax strategy and governance of a dynamic, growth-focused business. Please note this role is based 5 days on site, close to Melbourne CBD.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, planning, and risk management. You'll lead a small team and act as the key tax advisor across the business, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Group's tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop and implement tax strategies, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Manage tax risks, audits, and transfer pricing documentation.
- Provide strategic tax advice on business initiatives, transactions, and projects.
- Prepare and review income tax returns, tax effect accounting entries, and reconciliations.
- Drive process improvements and ensure best practices in tax operations.
- Deliver insightful tax reporting and analysis to senior leadership and the Board.
- Mentor and develop tax team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
About You
You are a commercially minded tax professional with a strong technical foundation and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are confident engaging with senior stakeholders and external advisors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Taxation; CPA/CA preferred.
- 5+ years' experience in direct and indirect tax compliance, ideally in a corporate or advisory setting.
- Strong knowledge of tax effect accounting and risk management.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with international tax and transfer pricing is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and finance systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
