About the Role
We're partnering with a leading global trading firm to recruit their first Financial Controller for the APAC region. This is a hands-on role with regional scope, covering Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore, and London, and reporting directly to the Chicago-based CFO. You'll lead a small team of two accountants in Sydney and play a critical role in ensuring robust financial control while supporting a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all financial control and accounting processes for APAC.
  • Perform daily accounting tasks, this is not just a management role.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and global standards.
  • Partner with senior leadership across multiple time zones.
  • Lead and develop a team of two accountants.

What We're Looking For

  • Industry Experience:
    • Ideal: Proprietary trading or market-making firm.
    • Minimum: Banking or Big 4 background with exposure to trading clients in the last 5-10 years.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong accounting fundamentals and ability to pass a technical test.
    • Deep understanding of trading instruments (futures, options) and quick mental math.
  • Leadership:
    • 1-3 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Communication:
    • Confident working with C-suite stakeholders.
