Financial Accountant - Large Well-established Retail Organisation

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this permanent position will see you operate as their 2IC, gaining broad exposure across financial reporting, controls, planning, ESG reporting and process optimisation. You will partner closely with senior stakeholders while building both your technical depth and commercial capability.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Lead critical month end deliverables owning key components
  • Transform financial data into sharp, commercial insights that help leaders understand performance and take action
  • Elevate balance sheet integrity through proactive, high quality reconciliation work and strong control discipline
  • Take a front seat in forecasting and budgeting, contributing to the financial strategy of your cost centres
  • Play an active role in ESG and sustainability reporting, supporting the organisation's forward looking commitments
  • Be the go to contact for audit partners, helping deliver a seamless and well coordinated audit process
  • Drive compliance by delivering accurate GST, tax reporting and statutory submissions
  • Champion smarter ways of working by improving systems, controls and cross functional processes
  • Partner directly with the Finance Manager on operational and strategic initiatives that broaden your exposure
  • Dive into a variety of value adding projects and tasks that keep your role fast paced, dynamic and ever evolving

What you will bring:

  • CA or CPA qualified essential
  • Minimum three years' experience within a mid-to-large organisation
  • Strong technical understanding of Australian and New Zealand Accounting Standards
  • Advanced Excel skills with a strong analytical mindset
  • Exposure to ESG or sustainability reporting
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-oriented
