Financial Accountant

About the Role
Our client, a well-established company in the construction and project management sector with a turnover of $200 million, is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join their finance team. This hands-on role involves managing financial accounting functions across two entities, ensuring compliance, and supporting end-to-end financial reporting cycles. The company is known for its collaborative and supportive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Assistant Accountant and Accounts Payables positions
- Manage financial reporting cycles, including quarterly and year-end P&L and Balance Sheets for multiple entities
- Review and prepare monthly and quarterly BAS
- Process and review payroll, including weekly wages and monthly salaries
- Handle tax invoicing, credit applications, and batch payments
- Prepare and review budget and cost reports
- Manage workers compensation claims and subcontractor RCTIs
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements for different entities within the group
- Prepare detailed monthly project cost reports, including cost analysis and variance explanations to improve financial transparency and decision-making
- Collaborate with the Finance team to compare annual budgets and forecasts
- Improve budget forecasting accuracy through detailed variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs
About You
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA/CA qualification or working towards it (preferred)
- Experience in a similar financial accounting role, ideally within construction or project management
- Familiarity with CHEOPS, Aconex, and payroll systems (Definitiv preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
