Accounting Operations Manager

We're partnering with a leading financial services business seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager to step into a critical role within their Finance & Treasury function. This is a 12‑month contract with a strong expectation of running to 18 months, making it an excellent opportunity for candidates in permanent roles seeking stability alongside meaningful project exposure.

What You'll Be Doing

Dual‑scope position across:

Accounting Operations (AP/AR)

  • Oversight of Retail, Wholesale, and Fleet AR
  • Management of general AP functions
  • Ensuring robust process controls, accurate reconciliations, and timely payment cycles
  • Driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Supporting large data‑set processing and controls (~160k contracts)

Financial Accounting / Finance Manager Responsibilities

  • Ownership of Trial Balance and month‑end close
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensuring accounting treatment aligns with AASB/IFRS
  • Coordinating external audits and supporting internal audit activities
  • Acting as the key point of contact for technical accounting matters

Leadership

  • Managing a team of ~8 (4 direct reports)
  • Providing coaching, structure, and operational clarity
  • Fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

  • Strong technical accounting background (AASB/IFRS)
  • Experience across AP/AR and core financial accounting
  • Highly organised, structured, and resilient - thrives in operational environments
  • Confident stakeholder manager with strong communication skills
  • Experience working with high‑volume data sets
  • Assertive leadership style; able to guide and support a diverse team
  • Industry experience in non‑bank lending or equipment finance is highly regarded but not essential
  • Understanding of operational tax implications is a bonus
