Nick is one of the founders of the company has been a board member since its inception in August 1999. He is based in Sydney and has overall responsibility for leading the Group and developing international strategy.

Prior to establishing Ambition, Nick was Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand for another high profile international recruitment business, having started his recruitment career with the same firm in 1981.

Nick holds an honours degree in Economics from York University.

Paul Young

Non-Executive Director

Paul Young was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company in September 1999. He is the co-founder and a director of Baron Partners Limited, a well-established corporate advisory business, and has been in merchant banking in Australia for more than 25 years. He has extensive experience in the provision of corporate advice to a wide range of Australian and foreign listed and unlisted companies including restructuring, capital raising, initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions.

A qualified chartered accountant in England and Wales, Paul holds a degree in economics from the University of Cambridge, an Advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Paul is a Director of Byron Energy Limited, Opus Group Limited and of several private companies.

Richard Petty

The Asian market is extremely important to Ambition and, reflecting this, Prof. Richard Petty was appointed in August 2014 as an Asian-based independent Non-Executive Director.

Richard has more than 20 years of consulting and advisory experience. He has advised a broad range of multinational firms and several governments on issues including finance, strategy, competitiveness, governance and on doing business in Asia. Richard is Past Chairman of The Australian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong & Macau, a Past Chairman of CPA Australia, a Board member of International Federation of Accountants, and has been a director of several other companies.

Richard graduated with first class honours in Accounting and was awarded the university medal. He holds a Masters degree (with honours) in Commerce and a Ph.D. He is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, CPA Australia, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Deborah Hadwen

Deborah Hadwen
Non-Executive Director

Deborah Hadwen was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the company in June 2017. She is Managing Director of Apoidea Group Pty Ltd an advisory firm to technology multinationals and high-growth local technology firms. Deborah has over 20 years experience in the technology sector.

Previously Deborah was Chief Executive Officer, Australia & New Zealand for Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS), a global leader in IT services, digital and business solutions. Prior to TCS, she held several commercial roles at Compuware Asia Pacific Pty Ltd in both Australia and Asia.

Deborah holds a Bachelor of Arts (University of Sydney), Master of Arts (University of Sydney), and a Master of Commercial Law (Macquarie University).  She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Deborah is a member of the Governing Council of Macquarie University and a member of its Audit and Risk Committee.
