The Data Scientist will be the data expert and quantitative researcher within Procurement and Supply Chain team and will have hands-on responsibility for identifying, prioritizing and undertaking a range of research and analytical activities leveraging all available data assets further enabling the BU to solve complex business problems, delivering tangible benefits for the business through the development and application of advanced statistical modelling techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyse data within the Procurement and Supply Chain business unit and deliver innovation and advice to the Business as an analytics discipline leader
  • Work with large data sets from multiple sources utilizing Advanced Analytics and Big Data tools and techniques for the purposes of analysing, providing insight and validating hypotheses
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to clearly identify, understand and
  • Answer important business and/or technology challenges, initiatives and questions
  • Provide hands-on support as required in formulating a coherent cross-business approach and
  • strategic/tactical plan for P&SC analytics initiatives
  • Lead and participate in complex and cross-company Analytics projects by analysing and interpreting

Qualifications:

  • Ability to manipulate and analyse complex, high-volume, high dimensionality data from varying
    sources
  • Ability to identify the key analytical questions and
    articulate the problem to be solved in a clear
    business context
  • Ability to specify an analytical solution to the
    problem and establish the best approach and
    detailed methodology for solving the problem
    Strong passion for empirical research and for
    answering hard questions with data
  • Familiarity with scientific research methods and statistical analysis - ability to understand and
    work around possible limitations in models
  • Expert knowledge of analysis tools: SAS, R, SPSS, Hadoop, Matlab
  • MS or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field
  • Ability to communicate complex data and quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
  • Experience working with large data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc)
