Tax Accountant

Job description

The Tax Accountant will report to the Tax Operations Manager and plays a key role in supporting the delivery of tax services across the business. The position focuses on meeting client reporting requirements, supporting client onboarding and transitions, and contributing to a range of tax-related projects within the Tax Services function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality tax reporting outputs accurately and within required timeframes
  • Prepare unit trust distributions, superannuation fund tax calculations, and tax returns
  • Develop and update client-specific reporting templates for review and approval
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to junior tax accountants
  • Maintain and review client tax profiles and security static data that underpin tax reporting
  • Respond to client queries and support issue resolution
  • Ensure compliance with operational risk, governance, and control frameworks
  • Contribute to project delivery, including testing and validation of tax templates and processes
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support broader team objectives and deadlines

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting principles relating to financial instruments, trusts, and/or superannuation funds
  • Solid understanding of fund accounting, reporting requirements, and operational risk within a client service environment
  • A degree in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA)
  • Experience working with central accounting systems and performing reconciliations
  • A track record of delivering accurate, detail-oriented work with a strong results focus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
