Senior Tax Consultant Fully Remote Work

I am activiely recruiting for a Senior Tax Consultant for one of the Top 100 Chartered firms in Australia, to provide the most up to date technical tax advice in a manner that provides practically workable solutions that is easily able to be understood.

With offices mostly in the regional areas, and one coming up in Sydney, you will be working across various client base, collaborating with the Directors and supervising more junior staffs.

This role would fit profiles who can work independently, with taxation and business advisory experience, and willing to travel to the regional office once every two years.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Directors, you will look after the following:

Role Specific

  • Provision of the most up to date technical tax advice for clients
  • Providing advice that is not only technically accurate but focuses on providing practically workable solutions in a manner that is easily understood
  • Provision of learning and development that builds the knowledge of the team across the broad range of taxation topics
  • Build relationships with the Business Services team. In pursuit of this a travel requirement is a recommendation that at least every two years each office, however more frequent visits are welcomed
  • Communication of priorities/jobs on-the-go and deadlines on a regular basis
  • Prepare and review tax effect accounting workbooks as requested by Directors
  • Assist Directors with statutory accounting as requested
  • Prepare timely client communications (newsletter and social media platforms) in relation to tax matters
  • Prepare and disseminate timely internal communications in relation to tax changes/updates
  • Ensure accurate filing and scanning of all advice provided to clients/team members
  • Maintain, in an accessible manner, up to date tax knowledge within internal databases
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of business and accounting with a background in tax
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency in the completion of required responsibilities and technical tax skills
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of services, systems and processes
  • Display a high level of written and oral communication skills using a variety of mediums
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to relate to clients and colleagues
  • Work well in a team environment with a willingness to adapt, interact and contribute in a positive manner
  • Undertake duties in a timely manner to meet deadlines and exceed client expectations
  • Be proficient in tax research

Technical

  • Keep up to date across the latest tax changes and Tax Effect Accounting (TEA)

Management

  • Mentor more junior Tax Specialists and to disseminate that knowledge to the broader team

Clients ( Internal & External)

  • This is an advisory role with no fixed ongoing clients however there is the potential to work with every client or team member in this role.
  • Clients would vary from listed entities to small business taxpayers
  • Provision of timely advice to clients of the firm in consultation with the Director
  • Provide updates of the latest tax changes to team and clients as applicable, utilising the different media platforms i.e. client newsletters/ social media e.g. twitter
  • Complete client work as required

Personal

  • Communicate workflow on a weekly basis
  • Re-prioritise to-do list in consultation with Directors
  • Ensure advice is filed correctly and accessible for future reference
  • Build and maintain networks of external consultants/ members of professional bodies (for use as a referral point when required
  • Maintain, in an accessible manner, up to date tax knowledge within internal data bases and ensure that team can access this

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accountancy, Commerce or Business with 10 + years' public practice experience
  • Completed post graduate training as a CA or CPA
  • Previous industry experience in tax consulting would be advantageous
  • Previous industry experience or background in Business services would be advantageous
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to write letters of a complex nature that apply plain English principles
  • Well-developed oral communication skills to present and deliver learning and development internally
  • Commitment to ongoing personal learning and development
