Senior Financial Accountant

An established global group is looking for a capable Senior Financial Accountant to join its Australian finance team.

This is a broad, hands on role reporting directly to the Head of Finance. You will act as a key support across financial reporting, month end, statutory reporting, audit, tax compliance, controls and process improvement.

Although the business is part of a larger international group, the local finance team is lean. This means you will need to be comfortable getting into the detail, taking ownership of issues and working across a wide remit. It will suit someone who enjoys variety, likes improving how things are done and can partner confidently with stakeholders across the business.

The role has a strong reporting and controls focus, with plenty of scope to identify gaps, improve processes and support better quality reporting. You will also work closely with external auditors, local tax advisors and regional finance teams.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading month end and year end reporting activities
• Preparing and reviewing journals, general ledger work and reporting packs
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving issues early
• Supporting statutory reporting and audit requirements
• Managing tax compliance across areas such as GST, BAS, PAYG, FBT and corporate tax
• Working with external tax advisors and auditors
• Partnering with internal stakeholders and providing accounting guidance
• Supporting reporting alignment with regional and global finance teams
• Improving finance processes, controls, systems and reporting quality
• Identifying process gaps and helping implement practical solutions
• Providing technical accounting support where needed
• Supporting and coaching junior members of the finance team
• Acting as a trusted 2IC to the Head of Finance

About you:

• CA or CPA qualified
• Strong tax experience across GST, BAS, FBT and corporate tax
• Preference will be given to candidates from consumer goods, medical devices or retail
• Experience using a large ERP system, with SAP highly regarded
• Confidence dealing with senior stakeholders
