Head of Risk & Compliance
My client is the clear industry leader in their field with operations in most countries around the world. They possess one of the most iconic and recognisable brands, which is a testament to their innovative and successful approach in marketing its products and services to a broad and expanding customer base. With a clear growth mandate and new strategic vision they are widely admired for their continued enhancement of their customer and service offering. Due to this, they have created a new role for a Head of Risk & Compliance. This exciting and highly visible role - with Board and Executive interactions - will help drive the organisation forward into their next chapter.
Reporting into the CFO and sitting on the Leadership team, this role will lead a small team and be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the risk and compliance function across the organisation. Some of the responsibilities for this highly visible role include: developing and embedding the risk management framework and compliance framework; working with the Board to set risk appetites; overseeing and reporting on the effectiveness of risk management; developing initiatives to enhance risk management and risk culture; leading, embedding and maintaining an effective corporate governance framework; presenting to the Audit & Risk Committee; providing oversight and challenging in relation to risk and control design and management; providing support, training and advice to Executives and Management to help them identify, develop and manage their risk and compliance obligations; building awareness and understanding of risk and compliance through communication to the wider organisation; other ad-hoc duties.
A proven leader, the successful candidate will be CA/CPA qualified and have extensive experience working in a risk and compliance function within a large organisation. Exceptional first movers from a chartered environment will also be considered. You will be highly autonomous and solutions focused, with the ability to demonstrate strategic insight and possess strong business acumen. Your proactive nature and the ability to be business facing at all times - building solid relationships from Board level down to entry level - will be the key to your success in this all encompassing role. Given this, strong communication skills - both written and verbal - are critical. Ideally, you will also have experience leading a small team, especially through significant organisational change.
