Head of Finance (Commercial & Operations)

An established international business with a growing Australian footprint to recruit a newly created Head of Finance - Australia.

This is the most senior finance role in Australia, working closely with the Managing Director and local leadership team, while reporting to the Group Head of Finance as part of a broader international finance function.

The business has expanded through acquisition and is entering its next phase of growth. As a result, they are looking for a commercially minded finance leader who can bring structure, clarity and discipline across a multi-site operation.

This is a high-visibility role suited to someone who enjoys working in an evolving environment, where finance plays a key role in shaping performance, supporting decision making, and driving consistency across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Australian finance function, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, and high-quality insight to support business performance
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, delivering timely and accurate results in line with group reporting requirements
  • Own budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis and clear recommendations to support planning and decision-making
  • Deliver meaningful performance reporting, including P&L and balance sheet analysis, with clear commentary and actionable insights for senior stakeholders
  • Partner closely with the Managing Director, Operations and Executive team to support commercial decision-making, including pricing, profitability analysis, KPI development and investment cases
  • Support strategic initiatives through robust business case development and investment appraisal
  • Maintain strong balance sheet governance, including oversight of reconciliations, provisions, working capital, leases, intercompany and reserves
  • Oversee statutory reporting, audit processes and external compliance, ensuring adherence to IFRS and local regulatory requirements
  • Establish and continuously improve finance processes, policies and controls, aligning local practices with broader group standards
  • Lead, develop and retain a high-performing finance team, including hiring, coaching, performance management and succession planning
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and processes, including automation and enhanced visibility through dashboards and workflows
  • Act as the finance lead on acquisition integration projects, supporting reporting alignment, controls implementation and stakeholder communication
About you:
  • CPA or CAANZ
  • Big 4 trained, with 10+ years' experience in commercial finance roles
  • Background in multi-site operations - essential
  • Established career in industry - not suited to first movers from practice
  • Comfortable operating in a senior, business-facing role, partnering closely with stakeholders
    Strong exposure to Aquisitions and Intergrations
