Financial Accountant

Our client is a well-known global brand with a long-standing presence in the Australian market, backed by the scale, structure, and stability of an international parent company. This is a broad, hands-on Financial Accountant role covering the full spectrum of day-to-day accounting and reporting for the local business, with some exposure to regional stakeholders. You'll get genuine breadth across compliance, reporting, and process improvement, rather than being siloed into one narrow function, plus the chance to work alongside a Finance Manager and Financial Controller who are hands-on, give feedback in real time, and are genuinely invested in developing their people.

They're looking for a driven Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension, supporting day-to-day financial accounting and reporting.

What You'll Be Doing

• Daily bank reconciliations, including cash book journals
• Month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
• Balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner
• GST/BAS monthly return preparation and supporting workpapers
• Annual FBT workpaper preparation
• Fixed asset and inventory management and reconciliation
• Lease accounting under IFRS16, including makegood provisions
• Assisting with monthly management reporting and annual statutory accounts
• Reviewing month-end results and preparing variance analysis commentary across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Supporting external and internal auditors with queries and information requests
• Proactively identifying and supporting improvements to financial controls, policies, and processes

About You

• CA/CPA qualified
• 3-4 years' solid financial accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP
• Experience with D365 highly regarded, or other large ERP systems
• A proactive, driven mindset with a genuine willingness to learn and take on new challenges
• Comfortable working things out independently in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
• Strong communicator who keeps stakeholders in the loop
• A team player who takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do
