In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for the financial oversight of the Bank's Control function, and assist with the co-ordination of the month end process to ensure completion in a timely and accurate manner. This is a very hands-on role and requires a motivated person with a strong technical base and excellent communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

Month end:

  • Involvement in the month-end close process for Australia and reporting of month end results in IFRS
  • Liaise with the broader Finance, Tax and Operations teams during month end close to ensure the balance sheet and profit and loss is accurate, and variances are explained

Financial and Regulatory Reporting:

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly IFRS results for the Branch
  • Prepare APRA regulatory reporting. Assist with any regulator queries or technical aspects
  • Prepare and review quarterly reporting packs and regulatory returns required by other jurisdictions
  • Assist with the preparation and review of transfer pricing related tasks, income tax calculations, GST and withholding taxes as appropriate
  • Assist with analysis of IFRS changes (eg: IFRS 9) and impact on local reporting
  • Complete regional and global reporting requests
  • Liaise with external auditors, co-ordinate completing audit requests within the organization, and assist in the resolution of audit issues.


  • Be heavily involved in EFS (ARS 702) APRA rollout. Be able to independently analyse, compare and understand existing form requirements to new EFS form requirements.
  • Assist in identifying, managing and closing control gaps
  • Be involved in the analysis of new business transactions and understand impact on regulatory returns
  • Ad-hoc projects such as process improvement, and systems upgrade projects

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory requirements (APRA essential)
  • Strong technical accounting background in IFRS
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and high level of commitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • CA/CPA qualified, with approximately 5-10 years post qualification experience
  • Experience gained within the Banking industry is an essential prerequist for the position
