This not for profit organisation in the Early childhood education sector needs your help and experience.

Working with the Senior Leadership team and reporting to the CEO, you will bring your commercial expertise to assist in the turning around of this business.

Established 120 + years ago, this business was originally founded to ensure that no destitute child went without shelter and education providing a haven for our children, today they employ over 700 staff and operate in 80+ sites around Melbourne.

Role purpose

The purpose of the Chief Finance Officer role is to handle the day to day financial management of the company and its associated core business operations and support the CEO to make the business profitable again. This role is a trusted advisor to the CEO; part of the executive management team focussing on keeping a watchful eye on all the moving parts of the organisation; helping the company grow through smart and innovative commercial models while managing risk.

Responsibilities

The role is broad and hands-on, incorporating technical accounting, management forecasting and reporting, process improvement and the provision of high quality, informative, accurate, reliable and timely data to inform strategic planning and business growth. Work closely with the management team with budgets and forecasting

Skills and Experience


The suitable candidate will be CA/CPA qualified with extensive experience in a Finance Manager/Financial Controller position within a small to medium enterprize. You will demonstrate excellent Analytical & problem-solving skills, and the ability to build strong, productive relationships with the executive leadership team. This is a hands-on position where you will build your knowledge of the business, acting as a true 2IC and trusted source of information to the CEO and board.

To succeed, you will have:

  • be a 'get things done' multi-tasking extraordinaire person, able to prioritise and delegate
  • have experience working in the not for profit sector, or small/medium business sector desirable
  • have a minimum of 10 years' experience in finance practice and reporting to a CEO and Board is preferred
  • qualifications in accounting, CPA or CA qualified
