Meet Claire

Claire has joined the Sydney Technology team as Manager of Digital Technology. She is ready with all guns blazing, we joined Claire for a quick catch up about what matters most to her in recruitment.

What do you think is the biggest challenge in recruiting for technology roles in Sydney?
The biggest challenge by far is finding good quality candidates. As with most sectors, the visa changes have stopped most businesses from employing people from overseas, which in turn has made a relatively small talent pool, even smaller. Although this is where our skills as a recruiter really come in to play, gone are the days of placing an advert online and being flooded with applicants!  

How do you maintain work/ life balance?
I’m up early, at the gym every day by 5:30am, I find that a good gym session helps your mindset for the rest of the day. I work hard when I am in the office, I plan and manage my meetings as efficiently as I can. I always try to leave on time, it’s good to get home, spend time with my family and unwind with a nice stroll by the beach.

What principles do you value highly in people who work for you?
Integrity, Trust, Loyalty, Hardworking, Fun attitude, Ability to think outside the box and always striving for growth.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?
Kindness, resilience, grit and determination to succeed.

What matters to you in recruitment?
Being nice to people, no matter what, what goes around comes around, if you treat people how you would want to be treated, you can’t go wrong.
