We're are lucky to welcome Dean Nguyen to our Banking & Financial Services Team. He's been busy learning the ropes, but we managed to steal him away for a few minutes so we could get to know him a little better.
How do you think others’ describe you?
Funny, outgoing, a social butterfly, sports lover, really easy to get along with and master in the kitchen.
I have always had a passion for helping others, and can see how rewarding it will be when placing a graduate into their first job or helping an experienced banker progress in their career. I made the transition from banking when coming into the office as a candidate. (Just want to give a special shoutout to Mathew Lewis, Michelle Wong and Ryan Griffin who helped with getting me on board.)
What makes you excited to get up and come to work?
As I’m new, being able to come in and learn something new every day. I’m always wanting to develop myself and working the Melbourne office doesn’t only offer a challenge but also an electric and friendly vibe from everyone!
What would you consider your speciality in your role?
I think my easy going nature and ability to build banter with people will give us an edge in getting the best out of everyone, also given my experience in the banking industry I will be able to identify what a good candidate is compared to a great candidate,
What’s the most interesting thing that’s happened to you lately?
Apart from starting my new career in recruitment at Ambition – I just came back from a Bucks party in Bali. Was great to get some sunshine during Melbourne’s colder months. Sorry, can’t share specifics… what happens in Bali stays in Bali...
Who is the smartest person you know and Why?
The person that comes to mind would be my Dad, I’m sure I know smarter people, however, I want to mention him cause he’s my hero. As I grow older and I start to realise the sacrifices he’s made. Escaping a war-torn country and migrating to a new place where he didn’t know the language (still doesn’t). Working countless jobs for minimal wages and everything in between to give myself and siblings the best life we could have.
What is your favourite thing to spend money on?
At the moment I’m big on collecting soccer and basketball jerseys. Anything from the Umbro 1999 Manchester united David Beckham to the most recently released Michael Jordan Nike swingman.
